Niger,

The drive from Attri to the closest city, Agadez, takes about 1½ hours by off road vehicle.  The residents of Attri have no vehicles and using a shared bus, like taxi's, are rare and expensive.  Villages like Attri only have primary schools, which means that most children will have exhausted their school opportunities at the age of 11.  The closest secondary schools are in Agadez.  In 2009, HtW will be building a dormitory in Agadez that will be able to accommodate children from villages like Attri.  The students will be mentored and tutored in academic subjects such as English.  These efforts will allow students to continue their education to the highest levels possible to help further the development of their country.

This project was discovered by a group of HtW volunteers who were conducting on-site research in Niger for the United Nations World Food Program Paris Bureau.
